IITs

 Having obtained permission from the Ministry of HRD, IIT Kanpur is set to start work on the proposed extension centre in Noida soon. According to Registrar of IIT Kanpur Sanjiv Kashalkar, the centre is going to be ready by 2012. 

 The Karnataka government has renewed its demand for an IIT in the state. Through a letter to Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal, state chief minister B S Yeddyurappa requested the Centre to look into the at the demand. 

The proposal of a high powered committee headed by Prof V S Vyas for IIT in Jodhpur and IIM in Udaipur did not go well with the main opposition in the Rajasthan assembly BJP and its frontal organizations.

Many students who could not make it to IIT this year after appearing for MHT-CET are ready to for a year to realize their dream. They will make fresh attempt at the entrance exams next year.

Jodhpur and Udaipur are proposed to be the venue for the Rajasthan IIT and IIM, respectively. The proposal is forwarded by a government appointed committee assigned to finalize sites for the premier engineering and management institutes.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have decided to monetize intellectual properties (IPs). The IITs  have at least 900 patents pending registration.
