Bihar boy tops Erasmus Mundus

 Shashi Narayan, an A B Tech student of IIT Kharagpur, who hails fom Bihar’s Khagaria district, did India proud by clinching first rank to claim Erasmus Mundus scholarship. Besides Shashi, 16 other students are selected for the scholarship in an open international contest.
 

 
Erasmus Mundus, the global version European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students programme, is aimed at popularizing European education globally. 
 
A product of Super 30, Shashi completed his schooling in his hometown before moving to Patna for further studies. His father is a clerk at Sadar Hospital in Khagaria and his mother a housewife. 
 
In 2005, Shashi was selected for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination. At the IIT Kharagpur, he was given for mining trade. Subsequently he could be able to change the trade to computer science owing to his outstanding performance and ranked 12th.
