Medicine is the most rewarding career for students with biology. The vast specializations in medical profession are another lucrative aspect. This profession not just requires you to burn mid night oil, but it also pays you for that.
Career in medicine is highly satisfying. The satisfaction not just comes from treating the patients, but it gets really highly paying internally or heartly when you are able to save lives of millions of people. A medico is considered as next to god, as it is only who can save the life of a dying man.

The major Specializations include General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat), Psychiatry, Anesthesiology etc. Super Specializations such as Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardio-thoracic surgery, Genito-urinary surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Clinical Hematology which require a further 3-5 years of study.

Demand of super specialty hospitals have created number of employment opportunities. These along with liberalization of economy could bring better opportunities for these professionals in terms of remuneration, research and working facilities. Other than Allopathy, medicine also covers different systems like Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani etc.

The basic or degree level qualification for a medical profession is MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor Of Surgery) which is of 5 1/2 years duration (including 1 year internship). The common areas of specialization in medicine and surgery
