All current Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have decided to provide all types of back-up for instituting 6 latest IIMs in the country slated to be functional from existing academic session.

The move was taken at a recently-held meeting with R. P. Agrawal, who works as Higher Education Secretary and IIM Directors.

The Central Government says that it is planning to establish 6 IIMs in the states of Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Haryana during the XIIth five year plan.

Previously a three member committee, consisting director of IIM Kolkata director Prof. Sekhar Chaudhury, IIM Ahmedabad Prof. Sameer Barua, and IIT Kanpur Director Prof. S. G. Dhande, said no to be an advisor for new IIMs.

The IIM directors were optimistic to offer all types of backing for establishing the new IIMs.
