The British Council has announced that IELTS test-takers for UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) now have the option to take the test on the computer.
The UKVI requested that this new option be made available and members of the British Council IELTS in Taiwan have already tested the new format. The first computer test was conducted on Oct. 29, after which anyone who needs to take the test for UK visas and immigration purposes can register for a computer test on the available IELTS test dates.
Test-takers responded with praise for the test.
Some test takers said typing on a keyboard helped with the writing portion of the test, thus allowing test takers to choose the medium with which they felt most comfortable. The computer test is only available for test takers taking the IELTS for UKVI (Academic) visa and immigration purposes.
