One day left for admissions in law colleges

With just one day left to fill admission forms at colleges, hundreds of law aspirants queued up at the institutes to try their luck on Friday. State CET cell has asked colleges to accept admission forms till Saturday noon.

For applicants, Friday was chaotic as colleges followed different rules. 'One college asked to give us an undertaking assuring that we would get our domicile certificate within three months, while another asked us to submit domicile certificates or at least the receipt of the application for domicile. Some of the colleges closed down the counter in the afternoon, while others continued to accept forms till evening. The process was time consuming at some of the colleges,' complained a student.

Several students, who had already secured admissions, went to Government Law College on Friday hoping to secure one of the 20 still vacant seats there. 'Our total intake capacity was 320 till last year. But the government has given us approval for only 300 seats. Several students who have already secured admissions at K C Law College and Pravin Gandhi Law College have been coming to us to secure admission in the last three days. We even wrote to the education department to seek its nod, but there has been no positive response,' said an official from GLC in Churchgate.

State CET cell commissioner Chandrasekhar Oak said the Bar Council of India has sanctioned only 300 seats at GLC, which got permission from the state.
