Hillsdale College, founded in 1844, has built a national reputation through its classical liberal arts core curriculum and its principled refusal to accept federal or state taxpayer subsidies, even indirectly in the form of student grants or loans. It also conducts an outreach effort promoting civil and religious liberty, including a free monthly speech digest, Imprimis, with a circulation of more than 3.6 million. More information is available at Hillsdale.edu.

College announced that registration is open for a new online course, 'Introduction to the Constitution.' The free, not-for-credit course gives virtual students a seat at the table with Dr. Larry P. Arnn as he explores the political origins of our nation. Filmed in an entirely new style, the course provides students with a classroom experience that looks and feels as though they were joining the discussion in person. The course will be released May 15.

'Students will want to binge watch 'Introduction to the Constitution' the way they do the latest hit Netflix series,' commented Jon Lewis, online course director at Hillsdale College. 'By increasing the production value and shortening the lectures, we've put together a truly engaging experience.'

'Introduction to the Constitution' is taught entirely by Dr. Arnn and is divided into twelve lessons:

  • Lesson One: The Declaration of Independence - Universals and Particulars
  • Lesson Two: The Declaration of Independence - The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God
  • Lesson Three: The Declaration of Independence - All Men Are Created Equal
  • Lesson Four: The Consent of the Governed
  • Lesson Five: Representation of the People
  • Lesson Six: Sovereignty and Power
  • Lesson Seven: Reason and Passion
  • Lesson Eight: The Separation of Powers
  • Lesson Nine: The Necessity of Virtue
  • Lesson Ten: Ballots Rather Than Bullets
  • Lesson Eleven: The Problem with Big Government
  • Lesson Twelve: The Problem with Progressivism

Hillsdale College offers a catalog of free, online courses taught by its faculty in subjects ranging from the Constitution to Winston S. Churchill, education, economics, and public policy. More than 1.3 million students have generated more than 2 million unique course enrollments since the program launched in fall 2011.
