The University of Calcutta (CU), Kolkata has released an admission notification inviting eligible, interested candidates to apply for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in Biotechnology offered at the Department of Biotechnology for the academic session 2017.
Eligibility criteria
Educational qualification:
Those interested in applying should have pursued MSc in any branch of life sciences, chemistry, physics, from any UGC recognised university or institute, with 55 per cent marks in aggregate (SC, ST & OBC with 50 per cent marks).
Selection procedure
The candidates will be selected on the basis of a written examination followed by interview.
The candidates who have cleared UGC/ CSIR (JRF)/ NET/ SET / SLET/ valid GATE/ Teacher Fellowship/Inspire Fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the MPhil examination shall be exempted from appearing for the PhD entrance test; however, they will have to appear for the interview.
How to apply
Interested, eligible candidates are required to apply online at the official website www.caluniv.ac.in. The application form along with self-attested copies of MSc/BTech and NET/ SET/ SLET/ GATE/ MPhil/ SC/ ST/ OBC certificates (if applicable) has to be submitted to the departmental office.
Important date
The last date for submission of application form is February 16.
Admit cards will be issued on February 20.
Written test will be organised on February 23.
Interview will be conducted on March 6.
