The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati has released an admission notification inviting applications from interested, eligible candidates to apply for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in the department of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Design, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Humanities and Soncial Sciences, Centre for the Environment, Centre for Energy, Centre for Linguistic Science and Technology, Centre for Nanotechnology and Centre for Rural Technology for the academic session July 2017.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
PhD in Engineering:
The candidates interested in applying for this programme should be holding a Master's degree, in Engineering/technology/medical sciences/veterinary sciences/pharmacy, in a relevant area with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks.
PhD in Design: The candidates interested in applying for this programme should be holding MArch/MDes degree or MTech/ME degree in a relevant area, with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks.
PhD in Science: The candidates interested in applying for this programme should be holding a Master's degree in engineering/technology/design in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks.
PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences: The candidates interested in applying for this programme should be holding a Master's degree in arts/commerce/science in a relevant area with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent.
Selection Procedure:
The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in GATE/ NET/ CEED/ INSPIRE, grades/marks in the qualifying examination, etc. They will then be selected on the basis of a written test and/or interview/portfolio review.
