Gujarat board exams starts today: Change in schedule

The board exams for class X and class XII students of schools under Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) will begin on Wednesday. This year, 17.59 lakh students will take the class X and XII examinations. There are 11 lakh students taking the class X exam. While 5.14 lakh will take the general stream class XII exam, 1.41 lakh students will take the class XII science stream exam. Around 178 jail inmates will also take the board exams, and arrangements for them have been made in prisons.

Apart from the local surveillance squads, around 80 flying squads have been set up for surveillance based on complaints.

On Wednesday, class 10 students will sit for their first language paper (English/ Gujarati), class XII general stream students will take Accounts paper while the class XII science stream students will take their Physics exam.

For class X students, there are about 876 centres across the state while there are 496 and 209 centres, respectively for class XII general and science streams. The board has established around 60,229 blocks and all rooms are equipped with CCTV. Each centre for the board exams will have to put up a board mentioning that the building is under CCTV surveillanceThe board exams have been conducted under complete surveillance for the last few years to avoid irregularities and to curb cheating.On Wednesday, all students will be welcomed with flower and a tilak will be put on their foreheads.

Change in schedule

The Sanskrit paper which was scheduled for March 28 for class XII general stream students has now been postponed on account of a public holiday - Cheti Chand - which falls on the same day. The exam will now be conducted on March 29, according to a circular issued by the state education board.
