Delhi University (DU) has extended the deadline for admission seekers residing outside India in order to provide more time to students who wish to pursue courses in country's most sought-after varsity.

The admission committee has decided to extend the deadline for students eyeing undergraduate programmes to May 4 from April 15 for the submission of documents for the purpose of verification, confirmed Ashutosh Bhardwaj, a senior official from DU admission committee.

The deadline for applying online for the upcoming academic session was April 20 after which the students proceed to submit their documents.

'The deadline for application in Ph.D courses has been extended from April 15 to May 31,' Bhardwaj told.

As opposed to the mark of 2,400 applications last year, the university officials have received over 3,300 applications this year by DU aspirants abroad. The varsity in the past got application from several students from countries like Mauritius, Sri lanka, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Syria and Iran.

Interest in students has escalated due to several courses the varsity offers. 'The most sought-after courses by foreign nationals include UG programmes like B.Com (Hons.), Economic (Hons.), among others,' said Rudrashish Chakraborty, assistant professor at Kirori Mal College.
