The Medical Council of India (MCI) has chosen Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) as a regional centre for conducting Faculty Development Programme. KIMS is a sister concern of KIIT which will cover entire east India.

KIMS boasts of being the lone regional centre in the whole eastern India. Besides it is the first ever Orissa institution to make it to this list of the centres to conduct the prestigious programme of the MCI. Prior to assigning this task the MCI had conducted a survey of the institution. Academic excellence, teaching methods, infrastructure and availability of latest equipment, all these factors went in favor of the KIMS.

The institution is assigned to conduct the programme for five years. Academicians and students in the region will benefit from this move. KIIT School of Management (KSOM), sister concern of KIMS too has a feather in is cap. It has been nominated as Mentor Institution by AICTE and is assigned to conduct faculty development programme in eastern India among the four management institutions.

The status of Mentor Institution for KSOM will also be valid for a period of five years. In its capacity as a Mentor Institution, KSOM will be responsible for the development of management education. Motivation of the students and making new information available to the faculty members are its briefs.
