Faculty-Led Study Abroad Proposal Deadline for Travel during Spring, Summer 2018

Gayathri | Saturday, January 21, 2017 12:24 PM IST

Faculty led short-term programs requiring travel (international or domestic) enrich the curriculum by taking learning to new dimensions outside the classroom. These programs allow participants to understand the world around them by immersing them in other languages and cultures.

The learning experiences afforded by these programs help support the University’s mission of transforming students for global citizenship and individual excellence.

Many faculty led programs are also a necessary alternative for students who cannot accommodate international year-long or semester programs. Members of the Webster faculty, adjuncts included, are invited to plan and propose these short-term study abroad courses.

Fast-Growing Access to Study Abroad Experience

Short-term programs, which can be faculty-led intensive face-to-face (traditional) courses or hybrid or blended programs that combine online work with travel and study, are the fastest growing study abroad programs in the nation.

Almost one in three of Webster study abroad students do so on faculty led programs that include a short-term travel experience.

Past short-term faculty-led program have included travel to 22 countries:

Europe (10): Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey (Istanbul); United Kingdom (England and Scotland);

Middle East (1): Israel

Africa (2): Rwanda, Namibia

Asia (4): China, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand

North America (2): Canada, United States (NYC, Orlando, Taos)

Central America and the Caribbean (2): Costa Rica, Cuba

South America (1): Brazil
