Tolani Maritime Institute

To attract the very best talent and promote sustained achievement, TMI awards generous merit based scholarships.

For each Marine Engineering on-campus semester, about 17.5% of the top ranking students from each class are awarded scholarships amounting to an aggregate of approx. Rs. 46 Lac per year.

The highest scholarship of Rs. 40,000/- per semester is named 'Dr. C. P. Srivastava Scholarship'.

TEF Need Cum Merit based Scholarships

The Tolani Education Foundation has instituted 48 need-cum-merit based scholarships from semester commencing August 2007. The objective is to provide financial support to the identified students undergoing UG programmes at TMI Induri. The Scholarship amount of Rs. 15,000/- per semester once awarded shall continue till the end of the third year of the programme provided the performance of the candidate is as per laid down standards.

Mrs. Papu Tolani Scholarship

Mrs. Papu Tolani, wife of Dr. N. P. Tolani has kindly instituted one scholarship of Rs. 10,000/- per semester, for the Marine Engineering programme.

This is a merit-cum-need based scholarship. Once the scholarship is offered, it will be continued for the entire programme to the one student selected from each batch of new entrants, provided the student's performance and/or conduct has been satisfactory.

The 'Mrs. Papu Tolani Scholarship' is given only for the semesters spent on campus and not for the period spent on internship.

The Vasant Sheth Steamship Mutual Scholarship

Vasant J. Sheth Memorial Foundation jointly with the representative of SMUA/SST have instituted two merit-cum-need based scholarships available to Marine Engineering programme students.

Students offered admission to TMI and able to demonstrate the need for financial assistance, as per the criteria established by the Foundation, may apply separately. These scholarships provide assistance of Rs. 30,000/- per semester over the full four year programme to two students selected from every batch of new entrants.

Once awarded, this scholarship is continued for the entire four year programme provided the recipient maintains a Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 5.0 and is not cited for any disciplinary lapses.

Manbhaw Charitable Trust

The Manbhaw Charitable Trust, to promote participation of girls in the maritime industry and to promote academic excellence amongst them, has instituted two merit based annual scholarships exclusively for girls students enrolled in either the Marine Engineering or Nautical Technology programmes.

Each academic year the woman student that achieves the highest aggregrate Grade Point Average during the preceding two semesters shall receive an award of Rs. 15,000/- and the second ranked woman student shall receive an award of Rs. 10,000/-.

Menghraj Karna Need-cum-Merit based Scholarship for Girls

Menghraj Karna need-cum-merit based scholarship for girls has been instituted from semester commencing August 2008. The objective is to provide financial support to the identified girl students undergoing UG programmes at TMI Induri. The scholarship amount is Rs. 10,000/- per semester as per the bye laws of the scholarship.

NYK Lines, Japan

As a part of a long term agreement between NYK Ship Management and TMI, NYK has agreed to provide financial assistance to selected students from the time of selection by NYK until they are on campus. NYK intend to select promising candidates early in thier 4 year programme at TMI and will provide advance training and placement within NYK to students who maintain satisfactory performance.

It is important to note that the NYK scholarships as offered to selected candidates are in addition to TMI's merit based scholarships.

K-Line, Japan

As a part of an agreement between K-Line and TMI, KLSM (I) provides financial assistance upto $200 per month to selected students during the final two semesters of the degree programme at TMI. Campus selections are done by the company normally in the 2nd / 3rd year of the programme.
