Kindergarten admissions open in govt schools

Along with private schools, UT education department has also opened admission to pre-nursery and nursery classes in government schools, model and non-model in Chandigarh. The department uploaded admission notice on the website. The forms were made available from Thursday.

UT education department has also stated that government schools will strictly follow neighborhood criteria. For the same, the department has attached a list of sectors where parents reside followed by the list of nearest two or three schools where the parents can applyNo students from Panchkula or Mohaliwill be admitted. In the notice, the department has mentioned that 'parents should be residents of the area allocated to the school where they want to admit the child'. Further, to ensure proper Pupil Teacher Ratio, department has clarified that number of seats in each section in both pre-nursery and nursery in each school will not exceed 45 children.

As per notice, the government schools will admit children through draw of lots. Minimum age for admission for pre nursery will be three years while for nursery it will be four years. Out of 45 seats, 37 seats will be offered to general category. Out of 37, 30% will further be reserved for girl students. Total six seats will be reserved for schedule castes and two for wards of teachers. For physically-challenged students, seats will be given over and above the mentioned seats. It has been stated that if seats under quota go vacant, those will be offered to general category students from the waiting list.

Admission forms will be available free-of-cost on education department and school's websites. Forms can also be taken from the schools, said director school education Rubinderjit Singh Brar. All private schools made admission forms available on Thursday and will offer forms till December 12. Forms are to be submitted in the school before December 12.
