The University of North Carolina has been recognized for its efforts to support students with disabilities taking online courses.

The University was one of 47 colleges recognized by the SR Education Group, following a study of 1,265 schools across the country. The SR Education Group developed a “Disability-Friendly Score” for these schools, colleges and universities that currently offer four or more online-only degrees or 10 or more online programs awarding certificates.

The 100-point scale took into account thoroughness of a school’s resources, Universal Design for Learning (UDL, the Harvard-designed standards for learning programs) and distance-learning accommodations. Top scoring schools included Stanford University, University of Connecticut and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (you can check out the full list here).

The SR Education Group also ranked the nation’s most affordable online schools, Wilmington was in the top 25 of affordable online programs (read the full list here).

SR Education Group is a Washington-based company dedicated to transparent information about applications, careers and financing in higher education.
