The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna has released an admission notification inviting applications from interested, eligible candidates to apply for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme offered in engineering, science and humanities and social sciences for the academic session December, 2016.
Eligibility criteria
Educational qualification:
PhD in Engineering:
The candidates interested in applying for this programme should be holding:
- MTech/ME degree in a engineering/technology, with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/technology in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks
- Master's degree in science in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks
Ph.D in Science:
The candidates interested in applying for this programme should be holding:
- MPhil or Master's degree in science in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks
- Master's degree in engineering/technology in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/technology in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks
Ph.D in Humanities and Social Sciences:
The candidates interested in applying for this programme should be holding:
- M.Phil or Master's degree in arts/commerce/science/management in a relevant area with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent
- Master's degree in engineering/technology/design in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent marks
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/technology in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks
Selection procedure:
The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in GATE/NET, grades/marks in the qualifying examination, etc. They will then be called for a written test/interview.
