Kerala schools among top educational institutions

Several schools in Kerala, including a few government run educational institutions, have been ranked among the top 10 in the country, in different categories, in the 10th annual EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR-2016).

“The purpose of the nation-wide survey was to alert school promoters, principals and teachers, who live in ivory towers, that their education delivery performance was being evaluated, measured and compared national-level on a broad range of parameters,” said EducationWorld founder-editor Dilip Thakore.

Choice School at Tripunithura in Kochi and Pallikoodam School at Kottayam were ranked seventh and eighth respectively in the ‘Day Schools’ category, while Sadhbhavana World School at Kozhikode came ninth in the ‘International Schools’ category.

Kendriya Vidyalaya at Pattam in Thiruvananthapuram, ranked first in the ‘Government Schools’ category and GVHSS for Girls at Nadakkavu in Kozhikode came third.

Kendriya Vidyalaya-VII, West Palakkad, Kendriya Vidyalaya-VIII, Thrissur and Kendriya Vidyalaya-XI, Keltron Nagar, Kannur, were the other government schools that found a place among the top 25 educational institutions in the ‘Government Schools’ category.

Meanwhile, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at Chendayad in Kannur, was placed third in the ‘Government Boarding Schools’ category. JNV- Chennithala and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya-Neriamangalam came in fourth and sixth positions respectively.

The schools were ranked in 13 categories on the basis of their performance in 14 relevant areas — academic reputation, community service, competence of faculty members, individual attention to students, leadership/management quality, life skills education/conflict management, co-curricular education, internationalism, parental involvement/pastoral care-in boarding schools, teacher welfare/development, value for money, sports education, safety/hygiene and infrastructure provision.

The 10th annual EducationWorld India School Rankings survey was conducted by the education news magazine EducationWorld and Delhi-based research organisation Centre for Forecasting and Research.

Valley School in Bengaluru, Modern School at Barakhamba Road in Delhi, JB Petit High School for Girls in Mumbai and Campion School stuated in Mumbai have been ranked the country’s most admired ‘Day Schools’ in EWISR-2016.

A total of 10,301 parents, teachers, principals, educationists and senior students in 28 cities from across the country were interviewed by 140 researchers to rate and rank the 1,000 most reputed schools.
