In its clean-up drive post the toppers and affiliation scam, Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is all set to go for digital evaluation of answer sheets of 1.5 lakh Class X and Class XII students, who wrote their compartmental examinations early this month.

This is the first concrete step the state board has initiated to avoid bungling during evaluation process, particularly writing of answers in answer sheets after examinations are held. Special Investigation Team that has been probing the toppers scam has detected how three state toppers had written their answers leisurely after examinations and had got high marks to become toppers.

The state board has also provided training to over 2,700 evaluators this month to explain how digital evaluation is done.

BSEB chairman Anand Kishor explained: “All original answer sheets will be scanned and sent to strongrooms. Evaluators will get virtual answer sheets and get a tabulation sheet to enter marks against each question attempted. If a student attempts more than permitted questions, extra attempted answer would be automatically declared invalid by the system”.

BSEB spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Dwivedi added compartmental examination would give the state board a fair idea on bow the digital evaluation works.
