Air-hostess Career: Eligibility,courses,Best Institutes.

Air hostess is one of the high profile professions in India desired by many young graduates. Air hostess profession is like a dream come true for young girls.

 Air Hostess has to handle some difficult passenger and remain patient and calm.

Mostly women choose the career of air hostess but those men who choose the career are called ‘Stewards’.

An Air Hostess can be later on promoted as Senior Flight Attendant and then Head Attendant. Air Hostess has an average career span of eight to ten years, later she can move to the ground duties which include the job of a Check Hostess, training of air hostess, Ground hostess or work with the management level.

To get a job as an Air Hostess your personality is more important than the education.

Following Eligibility required for becoming Air Hostess

  • She should be 12th Pass
  • Some airlines prefer graduates with specialization in Hotel Management and Tourism.
  • Should be in between age group of 18 to 25 years.
  • Should have minimum height of 157.5 centimetres.
  • Should have weight proportion to height
  • Mastery in spoken Hindi, English and any other foreign languages will be an added advantage.
  • Should be unmarried ( Not all airlines have this condition)
  • Normal eyesight of 6/6 uncorrected in both eyes
  • Should hold a Residential Passport.
  • Fair to clear complexion
  • Good Health / Physically fit
  • Pleasing personality

Examination

After the screening process the airline company will call the applicant for a written examination. Examination contains objective type questions.

After qualifying through the written examination a group discussion is followed by a personal interview. If passed in above 3 examination process then the selected candidates will be recruited as trainees and has to undergo a 3 month training programme.

The short term course is of 3 to 6 months and the long term course is of 1 year. In training technical and non technical aspects of the airlines are taught.

In training you are taught about the safety and first aid, grooming and hygiene, service, how to mingle with passenger, emergency demonstration, passenger psychology, conversation art, emergency evacuation system etc.

Salary

Air hostess salary depends on the airlines companies as some international airlines pay more than the domestic airlines.

Salary ranges in between Rs 16,000 to Rs 75,000. Some domestic airlines also start pay from Rs 25,000. The senior position Air Hostess in domestic airlines is paid upto Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000.

While the international airlines Air Hostess may earn Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 2,00,000 for a senior position.
